Is it well made?
While we can work wonders with almost anything, the bones of your current pieces should be well-constructed. We rarely reupholster pieces purchased new within the last 10-15 years, if they are from a big box or chain, because most modern seating is not meant to be reupholstered. If your sofa or chair has lasted beyond this length of time, there’s a good chance we can work with it. Send a photo, if you aren’t sure!
Is it/was it comfortable?
While older pieces can become less comfortable over time, as we grow older and desire firmer and higher seating, if the piece has never been right for you, please discuss this with us, to ensure that we upholster it to your comfort level. We can make adjustments to padding thicknesses, leg heights and a range of other details to suit your needs. If there are many changes required, or you never found it to be quite right, consider purchasing a new piece from us, made to fit you just right! It’s often similar in price to buy new in a similar quality.
Does it suit your space?
Changing details to modernize seating is the easiest way to update your sofa, but sometimes it’s best to go with something new. Buttons can be added or removed, trim can be changed, cushions can be made higher, thicker, or cushier. Rolled arms can be made thicker or slightly more streamlined, but altering them into straight track arms can sometimes compromise the integrity of the frame. Same goes for camel back styles, or drastically altering back heights. We are happy to let you know what options are available.
